Muskets & Magic The two musket nations

Same eight classes, opposite gloves. Fire behind the red line, rocks behind the green.

Ignia and Zemliya Armies

If Muskets & Magic has a default photograph, it is Ignia versus Zemliya. Nanoplex Studio built this Roblox team PvP shooter around Napoleonic lines with a magic twist, and these two nations are the twist wearing a proper uniform. Early access on PC, mobile, and console already lets you play both. They share eight classes, flintlocks, and a belief that the other side started it. They do not share a glove, a king, or a sense of humour about the Great Stena.

Read the factions overview if you still need the four-nation snapshot. This page is only the musket pair. Mage habits sit in how to play Mage. Map geometry sits in the maps guide.

Empire of Ignia

Fire magic. Capital Embrodire. Emperor Ambrose. About 15 million people. About 210,000 in the Imperial Ignian Army. Motto: Prosperity is Strength. Absolute monarchy with a peerage, counties, and a single Magic Academy in the capital. The navy exists in the lore; the playable branch is the army.

Ignia fights like a smaller professional force that expects to be outnumbered and does not find that interesting. Line Infantry flavour talks about facing superior numbers and rarely backing down. Riflemen go hunting backlines. Grenadiers march bloodstained on purpose. Officers lead from the front with pistol and sabre. Sappers throw sandbags and stakes onto points of interest. Surgeons bandage without a passivity oath. Ensigns treat the flag as a national argument. Fire Mages stand behind that argument and set the hedge on fire.

Counties you will actually hear: Ambrose, Embrodire, Wickland, Mersondle, Nortemire. Wickland is why Sitari is in the manor. Mersondle and Nortemire are old Zemliyan dirt that Ignia kept after the Great Blood War, which is why Zemliyans still have feelings. Ambrose is both a county and the emperor’s name, which is very Ignia.

Play Ignia when you want clean volleys, Fire Glove support, and the emotional life of a redcoat who knows the budget is smaller than Saint Valun’s. On Little Green and Prok’s Glade you are the mirror. On Final Stand you are the living army in a forest that does not like you. On Wickland Manor you are the gunline trying to keep Sitari off the furniture.

Kingdom of Zemliya

Earth magic. Capital Saint Valun. King Daniil VI. About 80 million people. About 900,000 in the Royal Zemliyan Army. Motto: Glory to Zemliya. Constitutional monarchy after a civil war that put the crown on a leash. Institute of Earth Magic, saints, and a wall.

The Great Stena is the national myth in timber and dirt: earthen archmages spent generations raising a wall so Ignia would stop visiting. In 1352 the story flips. Zemliya goes on the offensive, stirs rebellion in northern Ignia, and marches while Ignia is already busy. That is the lore reason you are allowed to shoot each other on a ticket map named after a green field.

Zemliya’s eight classes match Ignia’s jobs with different copy. Line Infantry is a wall of men with bayonets. Riflemen wear shorter bearskins and prod flanks. Grenadiers are the burliest product of a cold motherland. Officers may be as grey as the Stena and still stand in front. Sappers build like they are still raising the wall. Surgeons have seen every fracture. Ensigns raise the pride of the nation and die for it. Earth Mages throw the landscape.

Play Zemliya when you want the same musket grammar with a rock artillery section. Earth Glove at range is the identity. If your Mage plays like a Fire Mage, you are wasting the one thing Ignia cannot copy.

The shared eight

Both nations spawn the same jobs. Learn them once.

Line Infantry. Musket, no extra attributes. Form the volley. Reload behind a sapper stick, a hedge, a dead cart, anything. You are not a hero. You are the reason tickets exist.

Rifleman. Rifle, shortsword. Leave the volley. Take a flank. If you die in the drum, a Line Infantry should have held that pixel.

Grenadier. Musket, plus health, plus stamina, minus reload, minus accuracy, taller. You are the bayonet that opens a room. Stop trying to win a 120-metre shooting contest with a class that is worse at shooting.

Officer. Pistol, sabre, range aura, white chat. Stand where the aura kisses the line. Say the plan out loud because mobile players cannot hear your microphone and console players are not reading a grey whisper.

Sapper. Axe, hammer, shovel, builds, taller. On Little Green you make a firing step. On Wickland you make the round. Do not build a cathedral in a deathmatch with one life left.

Healer. Bandage, sabre, AOE heal, self-heal to full. Hide one body-width behind the people doing the dying. A Healer who duels Riflemen is a missing medic.

Ensign. Flag, sabre, respawns on the cloth, stamina aura, white chat. This is the ticket printer. Stand near teammates, not in a poetic field for a screenshot. If the flag is down, someone else must pick it up. That someone can be you after respawn.

Mage. Fire Glove or Earth Glove, mana, Ctrl dash, no guns. Ignia stays with the line and burns clumps. Zemliya takes a lane and rains stone. Both die to anyone who walks into melee while they channel. Both are often capped. Details belong in how to play Mage.

Sergeant-with-spontoon notes exist in some army documents. Early access play still treats the eight above as the live roster. If a spontoon appears in your hands, you are in a specialist experiment, not a ninth default class.

How the mirror match is actually won

Little Green and Prok’s Glade are Ignia versus Zemliya, Ticket Deathmatch, 100 tickets. Same class list. The winner is the team that keeps Ensign and Healer alive, that uses Officer range instead of Officer ego, and that spends the Mage cap on the correct school.

Fire wants clumps. If Zemliya blobs a hedge, burn the hedge. Earth wants stillness. If Ignia holds a fence like it is a Stena, drop rocks on the fence. Riflemen on both sides should be in the trees, not in the drum. Grenadiers should only exist when someone has to cross a road.

Do not copy Sitari habits here. There is no Sklirite. There is no bow line. There is a musket clock. Teams that charge like Knights on Little Green donate tickets.

When the vote later throws you onto Final Stand or Wickland, you are no longer in the mirror. Final Stand is Descendants of Death in a forest: stop standing in the open reload animation. Wickland is Sitari in a house: pistols and grenadiers matter more than 80-metre volleys. The maps guide is the pairing list; this page is the doctrine you bring when the pairing is green versus red.

County politics you can ignore until you cannot

Ignia subdivided into 26 counties. You do not need all 26. You need Wickland because the manor is a map, Mersondle and Nortemire because they explain why Zemliya is angry, and Embrodire because the Fire Academy is there and that is why Fire Mages feel scarce.

Zemliya subdivided into royal, subject, and autonomous territories. You do not need all 45. You need Saint Valun as the capital, the Stena as the wall, and the fact that autonomous territories supply cheap labour and fewer votes. It explains the flavour of a huge army that still cannot micromanage every village, which is also how a public Roblox server feels.

Crowns spent on an Ignian bicorne or a Zemliyan bearskin do not change the musket. Buy them when you can already reload without looking at your hands.

Drill for musket mains

Spend one session as Line Infantry on each nation so the silhouette stops confusing you. Spend the next as Healer. Spend the third as Ensign. Only then take Mage, and only if the cap is open. That order teaches the ticket economy before the firework economy.

If you are tired of the mirror, go back to the factions overview and pick a fight with Sitari or the undead on purpose. The musket nations are the tutorial that still has a skill ceiling. They are not the whole game, and early access will keep proving that the first time a Fire Mage meets a Sklirite Knight in a hallway instead of a field.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Muskets & Magic players.

Do Ignia and Zemliya use the same classes?

Yes. Both field Line Infantry, Rifleman, Grenadier, Officer, Sapper, Healer, Ensign, and Mage. The gloves differ: Fire for Ignia, Earth for Zemliya.

Which nation has the larger army in lore?

Zemliya, with about 900,000 soldiers and 80 million people. Ignia fields about 210,000 from 15 million. On a Roblox server the ticket count is still 100 a side.

What is the Great Stena?

A gigantic earthen wall raised by Zemliyan archmages to keep Ignia out. It is lore, not a destructible prop you build as Sapper, but it explains the earth-mage fantasy.

Which maps are the musket mirror?

Little Green and Prok's Glade are Ignia versus Zemliya Ticket Deathmatch. Final Stand and Wickland Manor pair Ignia against other factions instead.

Should I always pick Mage on these factions?

Only if the cap is open and you know the school. Fire supports the line. Earth punishes still targets at range. A vacant musket is often better than a tourist glove.
