Muskets & Magic From playtests to early access

2024 announcement, 2025 public tests, January 2026 video, September 2026 early-access label.

Last updated:

Muskets & Magic did not appear overnight as a finished 1.0. Nanoplex Studio showed the project in 2024, ran public playtests through 2025, and by a September 2026 snapshot the Roblox page is labeled [EARLY ACCESS] MUSKETS & MAGIC. This timeline is for veterans who remember a 24-hour window and for new players who keep seeing “final playtest” thumbnails. It is not a launch announcement.

For how to play the current build, use early access and getting started. This page is history.

2024 — announcement and first lore

The place (17239587155) and universe (5898577904) sit under Nanoplex Studio group 13731064. Trailer language from that era already sold the pitch: Napoleonic team combat with a magic twist, fantasy factions, creatures later, Discord first. Building sneak peeks showed sapper tools as two inputs and a lot of player creativity. Lore writes started the same year: Walker Stewart’s report in June, Rufus Wood’s diary in July–August, A Twist of Fate in August, then autumn letters and A Call to Arms.

Those posts mattered more than patch notes because there were not many public hours to play. People learned Zemliyan earth mages and Ignian fire from stories and showcases, not from a ranked ladder.

2025 — public playtests, including 24-hour tests

Public tests opened through 2025 so strangers could form 40-player-shaped lines. Creators recorded Ticket Deathmatch chaos, flag bearers as a dedicated role, and the usual playtest bugs: server restarts, missing voice, classes that felt uneven. One documented window is 17 July 2025, a 24-hour public test. The video on this page is that kind of session — long enough to see ticket drain, not a cinematic.

Other 2025 public-test videos show Empire of Ignia versus Kingdom of Zemliya on village maps, banner carriers as the personality role, and people bouncing off mage slot limits. Necromancer showcases circulated the same year: death magic as a real fourth element, not a Halloween hat.

If you played those tests, remember: progress from a test window is not a promise. Early access is a different persistence layer. Do not assume your 2025 muscle memory for building or tickets is still correct.

Lore kept moving during tests. The Tide of Change landed 1 January 2025. The Brute landed 16 March 2025. The Will of the Necromancer landed 10 August 2025 as Rufus Wood saga part 3. Playtests taught feel. Lore taught why a brute exists.

January 2026 — “final playtest” as a video title

A January 2026 YouTube video used final playtest in the title and talked like a full version was close. Comment threads from later months still asked when the page would open. Treat that title as a creator’s label for a late public build, not as Nanoplex declaring 1.0. This wiki will not treat that date as a 1.0 ship.

By September 2026 the live Roblox page still says early access. That is the status that matters for this wiki’s facts file. Boost copy (grand opening 60%, group, weekend, Wednesday UTC, Premium) belongs to that early-access period, not to a finished live-service promise.

What carried from tests into early access

  • Four factions: Ignia, Zemliya, Sitari, Descendants of Death
  • Eight classes per army, mage as a rare slot
  • Ticket Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Attack Defense
  • Sapper building as a real job
  • Flag bearer as more than a cosmetic pole
  • PC, mobile, and console support in official copy
  • 40-player cap

What you should re-learn: HUD boosts, which maps are in the vote (Final Stand, Little Green, Prok’s Glade, Remnants, Wickland), and that private servers still do not save progress.

How to use this timeline

If a guide says “in the playtest, grenadiers were immortal,” check the date. If a Discord clip is from July 2025, it is evidence of a build, not the build. Early access is where that feedback is still being spent. Report bugs, play the boosted windows, and do not wait for a mythical launch party that this page will not schedule.

The 24-hour tests taught volume; the January 2026 video captured a late public build; early access is where that feedback is still being spent.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Muskets & Magic players.

When did public playtests happen?

Through 2025, including a 24-hour window on 17 July 2025. Announcement and lore started in 2024.

Did the January 2026 “final playtest” mean the game launched?

No. That is a video title. The Roblox page is still labeled early access as of September 2026.

Do my playtest ranks still exist?

Do not assume it. Treat early access as the current persistence. Private servers never saved progress.

Why watch a 24-hour playtest video now?

For pace and density: tickets, flags, and 40-player noise. For current rules, use the early access note.

Where should a new player go after this history?

The getting started guide, then one public Ticket Deathmatch. History does not shoot the musket for you.
